Bachata is in 4/4 time - which means there are four emphasized beats in every measure. Here are some queues to help know where you are: The low bongo usually plays on the 4th beat. The voice accents the 1st beat - often that means that vocal phrases end on the first beat rather than start on it. The bass tends to play on the 3rd, 4th, and 1st beats - but this can change. Dancers usually step on beats 1,2 and 3 - stepping in place on 4 (tap). Sometimes, people will dance on different timings. Bachata is informal, it's not a ballroom dance, so the rules defining it are not rigid. See the last video on the bottom left for a step by step breakdown of bachata's most basic footwork.

Peter, it seems the video was taken down. We've put a new video in its place.
Still getting the following error message from YouTube: "This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender's friend request."
All the videos are playing correctly as far as I can tell
Video one seems to be inaccessible (marked as private) suddenly. Any chance you could make it public again ?
Thank you Iaso
Thierry, that's Aventura's Obsecion
I think the dancer from video one shows the basics of Bachata relatively well. No doubt the lifting of the leg is ( in my opinon) a bit stiff and exaggerated. I personally would not do it that way, but everyone has their own style and interpretation of the dance as well as their own manner in which to teach it.
Hi, I would like to know the name of the artist which sings and the name of the song of " how to dance bachetta" very beautiful music, very dancing. Think you
